Getting Started

How do I create an Avoom account?
Download Avoom from the App Store or Google Play, or visit web.avoom.com. Tap "Create Account," enter your phone number, and verify it with the code we send you. Choose a display name and profile photo, and you're ready to start messaging.
How do I verify my phone number?
After entering your phone number, Avoom sends a 6-digit verification code via SMS. Enter the code on screen to complete verification. If you don't receive the code within 60 seconds, tap "Resend Code." Make sure your phone number is entered with the correct country code.
How do I set up my profile?
Go to Settings > Profile to add your display name, profile photo, and a short bio. Your profile photo and name are visible to your contacts. You can update these at any time.
Is Avoom available on all platforms?
Avoom is available on iOS, Android, and the web at web.avoom.com. Desktop apps for macOS and Windows are coming soon. Your messages sync across all your devices in real time.

Messaging

How do I send a message?
Open a chat with a contact or start a new conversation by tapping the compose button. Type your message in the text field and tap send. You can also send emoji, stickers, and GIFs from the media picker.
How do I send voice notes?
Press and hold the microphone icon in any chat to record a voice note. Release to send, or slide left to cancel. Voice notes can be up to 15 minutes long and are compressed for fast delivery.
How do I share photos, videos, and files?
Tap the attachment icon (paperclip) in a chat to share photos, videos, documents, or your location. You can select multiple files at once. Photos and videos can be edited with filters and text before sending.
How do group chats work?
Create a group by tapping the new chat icon and selecting "New Group." Add up to 256 members, set a group name and icon, and start chatting. Group admins can manage members, set permissions, and pin important messages.

Calls

How do I make a voice or video call?
Open a chat with the person you want to call and tap the phone icon for a voice call or the video camera icon for a video call. Calls use your internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data), not your phone minutes.
Can I make group calls?
Yes. Start a call in any group chat by tapping the call icon, or add participants during an ongoing call by tapping the "Add" button. Group voice calls support up to 32 participants, and group video calls support up to 8 participants.
What affects call quality?
Call quality depends on your internet connection speed and stability. For the best experience, use a strong Wi-Fi connection or LTE/5G. Avoom automatically adjusts audio and video quality based on your network conditions.

Privacy & Security

Are my messages end-to-end encrypted?
Yes. All messages, calls, photos, and videos on Avoom are protected with end-to-end encryption by default. This means only you and the person you're communicating with can read or hear what's sent. Not even Avoom can access your messages.
How do I block or report a user?
Open the chat with the user, tap their name at the top, and scroll down to find "Block" or "Report." Blocked users cannot send you messages, call you, or see your profile updates. Reports are reviewed by our trust and safety team.
How do I enable two-factor authentication (2FA)?
Go to Settings > Account > Two-Factor Authentication and tap "Enable." You'll create a 6-digit PIN that will be required when registering your phone number with Avoom again. Add a recovery email address in case you forget your PIN.
Can I control who sees my profile information?
Yes. Go to Settings > Privacy to control who can see your profile photo, last seen, and about info. Options include Everyone, My Contacts, or Nobody. You can also hide your read receipts from this screen.

Account

How do I change my phone number?
Go to Settings > Account > Change Number. Enter your current and new phone numbers. Avoom will verify the new number and migrate your account, groups, and settings. Your contacts will be notified of the change.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings > Account > Delete My Account. Enter your phone number to confirm. This action is permanent and will erase your message history, leave all groups, and delete your account from Avoom's servers. This cannot be undone.
How do I use Avoom on multiple devices?
Go to Settings > Linked Devices and tap "Link a Device." Scan the QR code shown on the new device (web or desktop). You can link up to 4 devices. All linked devices stay in sync and share the same encryption keys.
