Your privacy is not a feature we offer. It is the foundation everything at Avoom is built on.

1. Introduction
Avoom is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data when you use our messaging platform and related services (the "Service").
We designed Avoom with privacy at its core. End-to-end encryption means that your messages and calls remain between you and the people you communicate with. We cannot read your messages, listen to your calls, or access the content you share through encrypted conversations.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide, maintain, and improve the Service:
Phone number: Required for account registration and verification. Used to identify your account and enable others to find you on Avoom.
Display name: The name you choose to show on your profile. This is user-controlled and can be changed at any time.
Profile photo: An optional photo you upload for your profile. Stored on our servers so it can be displayed to your contacts.
Usage data: Basic technical information including crash reports, app version, and performance metrics to help us diagnose issues and improve the Service.
Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version. Used for compatibility, troubleshooting, and ensuring you receive appropriate updates.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
This is what makes Avoom different. Due to end-to-end encryption and our privacy-first design, we structurally cannot access the following:
Message content: All messages are end-to-end encrypted. We cannot read, scan, or analyze the content of your messages. Not for advertising, not for moderation, not for any purpose.
Call content: Voice and video calls are end-to-end encrypted. We cannot listen to or record your calls.
Contact lists: Your device contacts are not uploaded to or stored on our servers. Contact discovery is performed using cryptographic hashing that prevents us from accessing your address book.
4. How We Use Information
The information we collect is used exclusively for the following purposes:
Account creation and management: To create your account, verify your identity, and provide account recovery options.
Service delivery: To operate the messaging and calling infrastructure, deliver your messages, and connect your calls.
Security: To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats to protect you and the Avoom community.
Abuse prevention: To enforce our Terms of Service and respond to reports of policy violations, spam, and illegal activity.
Service improvement: To analyze aggregated, anonymized usage patterns that help us improve performance and reliability.
We do not use your information for advertising. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not sell your data.
5. Data Storage & Security
We take the security of your data seriously and employ industry-standard measures to protect it:
Encryption at rest: All data stored on our servers is encrypted using strong encryption algorithms.
Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL.
End-to-end encryption: Message and call content is encrypted on your device and can only be decrypted by the intended recipient. Our servers never have access to the encryption keys.
Secure infrastructure: Our servers are housed in secure facilities with physical access controls, network security monitoring, and regular security audits.
While we implement robust security measures, no system is perfectly secure. We encourage you to use strong device passwords and keep your app updated to the latest version.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information only for as long as necessary to provide the Service:
Active accounts: Your account data (phone number, display name, profile photo) is retained while your account remains active.
Deleted data: When you delete your account or specific data, it is removed from our active servers within 30 days. Some data may persist in encrypted backups for a limited additional period before being permanently purged.
Undelivered messages: Encrypted messages that cannot be delivered are stored temporarily on our servers and automatically deleted after 30 days.
7. Third-Party Services
Avoom uses a limited number of third-party services to operate:
SMS verification (Telnyx): We use Telnyx to send SMS verification codes during account registration. Your phone number is shared with Telnyx solely for the purpose of delivering verification messages. Telnyx processes this data according to their own privacy policy.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties for commercial purposes. We do not participate in data exchanges or advertising networks.
8. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Access: You can access the personal information we hold about you at any time through your account settings.
Correction: You can update or correct your profile information (display name, profile photo) directly within the app.
Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Data export: You can request an export of your account data through the app settings.
Withdraw consent: You can withdraw your consent to data processing at any time by deleting your account. Note that withdrawing consent may affect your ability to use the Service.
To exercise any of these rights, use the relevant features in the app or contact us at privacy@avoom.com.
9. Children's Privacy
Avoom is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take immediate steps to delete that information and terminate the associated account.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@avoom.com so we can take appropriate action.
10. Cookies
Avoom uses a minimal number of cookies and similar technologies on our website and web application:
Essential cookies: Required for basic functionality such as session management, authentication, and security. These cannot be disabled without breaking the Service.
No tracking cookies: We do not use cookies to track your browsing behavior across websites.
No third-party analytics cookies: We do not embed third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics) that place cookies on your device.
No advertising cookies: We do not use cookies for advertising purposes or to build user profiles.
By using Avoom, you consent to the use of essential cookies necessary for the Service to function. You can manage cookie preferences in your browser settings, but disabling essential cookies may prevent the Service from working correctly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by other reasonable means before the changes take effect.
The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was most recently revised. Your continued use of Avoom after the updated policy becomes effective constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
